The aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding effects of tobacco among high school students in a selected school at Kollam district. The objectives of the study were to assess the knowledge regarding the effects of tobacco use among high school students. To evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding the effects of tobacco use among high school students, to find out the association between the pretest knowledge scores regarding the effects of tobacco use among high school students with selected socio demographic variables. In the present study one group pre test post test design was used. The sampling technique used was random sampling. The tool was developed and the content validity and reliability of the tool were assessed. Pilot study conducted. Immediately after the pre test structured teaching programme was administered. After 3 days post test was conducted using the same questionnaire. The findings showed that there was a significant improvement in the post test knowledge level of high school students.
